The Tri County Senior Center is launching a new community event – Movie Night.
The first movie night is this Friday, July 30. Showtime is 6:00 p.m. The film to be shown is True Grit, starring John Wayne. Admission cost is $5.
Doors open at 5:30 p.m. Popcorn, soda, and hot dogs will be available.
Dave Fox, music DJ is organizing the Movie Night program as a new Senior Center fundraiser. If the public turns out for the movie, Fox plans to have one Movie Night each month, on the fourth Friday. If the picture shows turns out to be wildly popular, he might present a movie every week.
“After almost two years of not gathering in large groups, it’s great to plan a large activity,” Fox said. “If this turns out to be something the public likes, we’ll do a movie every month.”
In addition to the weekday lunch meals, the Senior Center has sing-along every Tuesday at 10:00 a.m. and Bingo on Wednesday’s and Fridays, also at 10:00 a.m. Lunch is served at 11:30 a.m.
Presley’s Glass will sponsor the the event by helping to pay the license fee that is required to present a commercial movie to the public.
The Lions Club popcorn machine will fill he air with theater lobby aroma.
With donations from the seniors, Fox acquired a projector and ten-foot movie screen for the program.
Due to an event schedule conflict, the second Movie Night is scheduled for the third Friday of the month on August 20. Show time will be 6:00 p.m. The movie to be shown is Saving Shiloh, which was filmed in Pacific.
Excellent way to meet with friends and enjoy a cowboy legend not to mention an excellent movie.
